Auckland Art Fair is New Zealand’s premier gathering place for contemporary art — it draws artists and galleries from around the world with the conversation framed primarily around the pacific region. When Auckland Art Fair came to RF. they needed a rebrand, but not in a wholesale sense, they needed to hold on to the brand recognition they had worked so hard for, but at the same time to create a new identity that better represented the astute and visually discerning art community — “kinda like what google did”.

The outcome, designed in-house by RF. marries the paradox. Using a custom designed typeface based on previous branding, the new logo shares surprisingly similar form to the old, but operates on a different plane. The black and white colour palette is timelessly strong and ensures that any imagery used alongside it acts only as a complement. Having a strong and vested interest in the arts, RF. relished the opportunity to rebrand this bastion of contemporary art in NZ, and we were very happy to hear the work highly acclaimed by the client, their stakeholders and the public alike.
